Overall, my visit wasn't *amazing*, but it wasn't terrible either! If you're a bread lover, you'll probably enjoy their baked goods. They also have a ton of other options, from healthy salads and bowls to pizzas, biscuits, and boba tea – something for everyone.
So, I recently took a little road trip to Pike Road, Alabama, to check out The Waters community and this adorable place called Hole in the Wall. The drive was pretty nice, and the scenery was lovely. I'd seen them pop up on my social media a few times and finally decided to give them a try. I was curious – was the food as good as it looked in the pictures?
The place itself is super cute! The outside seating area is amazing – perfect for enjoying the view. Inside is cozy, but pretty small, so it's not really a spot for a big group. Maybe ideal for a small meeting or a casual get-together. They have a great grab-and-go section.
I grabbed a baked pateso with pork, some charcuterie, and a pepperoni calzone. The wait was about 30 minutes, which wasn't a huge deal since I could relax outside. While I was waiting inside, I noticed someone brought their dog in. Now, I love dogs, but I'm not sure about the restaurant's pet policy – something to consider if you're a fellow dog-lover (or not!).
Okay, here's the food verdict: Mixed bag! The charcuterie board was beautifully presented, although the grapes were a bit tart (the green olives were my fave!). It'd make a great little gift for coworkers, teachers, or even bridal parties. The pateso was warm and fluffy, but the filling inside wasn't as generous as the bread, and I unfortunately found some burnt bits. The calzone, after a long wait, was a little disappointing. The dough was a bit underdone, and there wasn't a ton of pepperoni – not like the pictures on their Facebook page suggested. My kids liked it, but they also weren't overwhelmed.
Let me know if you've tried Hole in the Wall and what you thought!
