I had a couple of people tell me to try this little donut shop in Prattville, AL. Let me just say—finding the location was a challenge. It’s hidden between tall buildings and very easy to miss. You really do have to drive slowly, because if you blink, you’ll pass right by it.
One thing that surprised me is that they are cash‑only. They have signs on the door and on the drive‑thru menu, but I didn’t notice until I was already there. Thankfully my bank was close by, because I almost gave up and left.
They had a steady crowd, but we were still able to look at everything they offered, and the staff was very friendly. They actually had a good amount of choices. Just know that if you’re looking for a cooked‑to‑order, hot breakfast, this isn’t the place. Everything is premade and grab‑and‑go.
We tried several items. The ham and cheese croissants were pretty big, and after warming them for 30 seconds at home, they were flaky with thick‑cut ham and a white cheese that melted nicely. My son had a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. Even though the biscuit wasn’t quite browned, it was still really good, and he said he’d definitely eat another one next time we’re in town. We warmed his for 35 seconds.
We also grabbed a jumbo sausage and cheese kolache. We heated it for 30 seconds, but I’d recommend 25. The bread was fluffy like the croissant, and the meat‑to‑bread ratio was good. I’m pretty sure the “sausage” was a hotdog. It wasn’t bad, but a Conecuh sausage would’ve made it perfect.
For sweets, we bought a dozen glazed donut holes. They were about the size of an eyeball and really tasty not too sweet and definitely one‑bite treats. I’d get them again, but I’d need more than one dozen because the kids acted like they paid for them. We also got an apple fritter. I love apple fritters, and this one didn’t disappoint. It wasn’t overly sweet and tasted fresh, just like everything else we ordered.
We picked up a couple of glazed donuts, and they were incredibly soft like cotton and melted in your mouth. That’s exactly how a donut should be. We happened to walk back in at the right moment and caught them putting out a fresh batch. Lastly, we tried the strawberry donut. It wasn’t my top pick, but it was still good. I mistakenly thought it was red velvet.
We spent almost $30, which I thought was fair for the number of items we bought. I would recommend giving this place a try. Would I go back? Yes, if I’m already in the area. I wouldn’t make a special trip, mainly because of the location. If you’re in the Prattville area and stop by, let me know what you think.
