Adrian (Chanze) Hails entered this world far earlier than expected at just 27 weeks. So small, so fragile… yet already so full of fight.
From the very beginning, his life looked different. While most babies went home to warm cribs, Adrian remained surrounded by machines, monitors, and a medical team working tirelessly to keep him here. Days turned into weeks… weeks into months… and before anyone realized it, he had spent 27 months in the hospital.
Twenty‑seven months of fighting. Twenty‑seven months of proving he wasn’t giving up.
His journey was not easy. He faced multiple surgeries. He had a trach placed in his neck to help him breathe. He relied on a feeding tube for nourishment and a breathing machine for support. His life began in ways most people could never imagine.
There were moments filled with fear and uncertainty moments when doctors spoke words no parent is ever prepared to hear.
They said he might not walk. They weren’t sure he would ever leave the hospital.
But Adrian had his own plan.
Even before he could speak, he showed the world exactly who he was strong, determined, and unwilling to give up. Day by day, step by step, he kept pushing forward.
And then he came home.
Still needing support, still overcoming challenges… but home. A victory that meant everything.
As the years passed, Adrian continued to defy expectations. Then, just a couple of weeks before his 5th birthday, another incredible milestone arrived his trach was removed. A moment that once felt so far away had finally become reality.
Along his journey, Adrian was diagnosed with autism and is nonverbal. But his voice is powerful in its own way.
You hear it in his laughter. You see it in his smile. You feel it in the love he gives so freely.
Despite everything he has been through, Adrian is one of the happiest, most loving children you could ever meet. He brings joy into every room he enters. People don’t just notice him they feel him.
He walks. He lives at home. He continues to grow, love, and shine every single day.
He is proof that doctors don’t have the final say. That strength doesn’t always come with words. And that miracles are real.
Adrian (Chanze) Hails is not defined by his challenges. He is defined by his strength, his resilience, and the love that pours out of him so naturally.
His story isn’t about limits. It’s about overcoming them.
And the most beautiful part?
He’s still writing it… in his own time, in his own way and it’s nothing short of amazing.
Being a dad to a nonverbal son with autism is a quiet kind of strength one rooted in patience, understanding, and unconditional love. In a world that may not always slow down for him, you become his calm, his safety, and his steady place to land.
He may not use words, but he feels everything your presence, your gentleness, your consistency. Every time you take the time to understand him, to meet him where he is, you’re telling him:
“You matter. I see you. I’m right here.”
Being involved isn’t always loud or visible to others it’s in the small moments, the daily effort, the way you never give up on reaching him. That kind of love is powerful. It builds trust, comfort, and a bond that doesn’t need words to be deeply felt.
You don’t have to be perfect. Just being there, loving him the way you do, is more than enough and it’s everything to him.
