Hey everyone! So, I've been a little MIA on the food blog lately – life got in the way! But guess what? I'm back in the saddle and ready to explore some delicious eats. You guys have been asking for more food reviews, and I heard you loud and clear!

Our neighborhood, Deer Creek, finally has some exciting new food trucks, and I was super excited to check them out. Even though I'd cooked dinner, I couldn't resist grabbing a couple of plates from Beyond the Flame (BTF) – Famous Touch of Soul food truck. I'm always a little nervous trying new places, especially after some less-than-stellar experiences in the past. But I went in with an open mind!

I've been to tons of food trucks, and the waits can be crazy, right? But this was different! The owner, Jessie, was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Seriously, some food truck owners barely acknowledge you, but he took the time to explain the whole menu. Wings were definitely on my radar, but he said the smash burger was his bestseller, so I went for both! No drinks included which is pretty standard for food trucks these days. The prices were a bit higher than I expected, but honestly, the amazing service made it totally worth it.

It was a little chilly and windy, so I was glad, they gave me a buzzer so I could wait in my car! Such a lifesaver. And the guy helping Jessie in the kitchen was a champ – he even brought my food out to the car! The whole wait was less than 10 minutes, which is fantastic. I always say, if the service is great and the food is fresh, I'm a happy camper. Anything over 30 minutes waiting though, is just too much for me!

I'm from the country, and let me tell you, finding a burger that rivals the ones back home is tough. But this place? Wow!

The burger was incredible – perfectly seasoned, with fresh veggies. No extra condiments, which was perfect because my son is super picky (sauce-free zone!). It was so good on its own, but I did sneak a little ketchup on the side for dipping. The bun was soft and fresh – seriously, good bread makes *all* the difference in a burger! The portion size was generous for the price, too.

The fries were good, but not quite crispy enough for my liking. Also, they had some kind of green garnish on top which wasn't my thing. I'm sure they'd happily leave it off if I asked next time!

I also ordered their wings (the pics online looked amazing). They were HUGE – I was worried about them being fatty, but they were juicy and moist inside, without being greasy at all. They came with a warm, crunchy roll which was a nice touch (I'm a total bread lover!). The flavor was good, but not exactly what I expected, and I wish there was a bit more sauce.

Overall, I'd definitely get their burger again – the size, taste, and fresh bun were unbeatable! The price was typical for a food truck ($13+), but totally worth it. The service was great, the portions were huge, and the food was fresh – a winning combo!

I'd give them a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Almost perfect! My only minor gripes were the fries and the garnish, and maybe a little more sauce on the wings. I'm excited to try more things on their menu!

If you're ever get a chance, give them a shot and let me know what you think!

You can find them on Facebook to view their schedule.
