So, I've been thinking a lot about restaurants lately and how important both amazing food *and* great service are. Seriously, if either is missing, it ruins the experience. I've seen tons of people wanting to give zero stars, but Google just won't let us, haha.
I recently had an experience at a place in Montgomery (you'll see my review soon!), and it was, well, let's just say it wasn't great. There's a mix of reviews online, some good, some bad, and mine unfortunately falls into the "bad" category. I arrived early (even earlier than they asked me to!), and the first thing I saw was a bag of food just sitting there... I'm not sure how long it had been there. I won't go into too many details, but let's just say I won't be going back.
The manager did apologize and offered a refund, which I appreciated. Accountability is key in any business, right? But honestly, once my trust is broken (after nicely pointing out an issue), I'm not interested in a remake. I'd rather get a refund or just cut my losses. This is just my experience, of course.
I've worked in the restaurant industry myself, so I've seen a lot. With so many restaurants to choose from, reviews are super important. We all make mistakes, but how you handle a situation makes all the difference. And let's be real, some reviews are definitely biased – friends and family supporting their loved ones' businesses, paid ads, sponsorships, you name it. Family support is awesome, but misleading reviews don't help anyone in the long run. There are also those folks who just seem impossible to please, no matter what!
Then there's the whole gratuity thing... it's a huge discussion, especially when service isn't great. The fact that it's often in tiny print is ridiculous! Restaurants should make it clear upfront – maybe display it boldly on a sign at the entrance. And I’ve heard similar complaints from my followers about extra charges for card transactions at food trucks – sneaky stuff!
For me, integrity is everything. Don't be sneaky or assume customers will just accept extra charges. Honesty is always the best policy, both in business and life. I'm aiming for high standards of integrity, and trying to cover things up just isn't the way to go.
Anyway, stay tuned for my summer travel reviews – restaurants from different states, different experiences, and hopefully, lots of great stories! I’ll make sure to keep my reviews unbiased and detailed.
