A Trio of Bakers, a Trio of Flavors, and My Honest Take

I had the most amazing time exploring Montgomery's bakery scene the other day! I hit up three different bakeries, each with its own unique charm. Seriously, the customer service everywhere was top-notch – a huge bonus! I always love chatting with the owners; it's fascinating to hear their stories.

My first stop was Lulu's Cupcakes, a total hidden gem I discovered through a social media post. It's this adorable bakery and boutique tucked away in a converted house off Ann Street. Finding the parking was a bit of an adventure (I totally missed it at first!), but it was worth it! I walked in through the side and was instantly hit with the most incredible smell of freshly baked pound cake.

I got to chat with the owner, Ms. Mary, who's the sweetest lady ever! She’s a veteran who started her bakery based on faith – what an inspiration! She’s so down-to-earth and makes you feel completely at home. She's super accommodating too; unlike some bakeries with limited menus, she's happy to do special requests (though those specialty cakes need a little advance notice!). And the little boutique next door? So many fun things to browse!

Now, the best part – the treats! I had to get a red velvet cupcake ($3.75 each) (because, duh!), and it was unbelievably fresh. I also tried a slice of pound cake (it had been ages!), and it was seriously the best I've ever had. Perfectly moist, not too sweet – way better than anything you'd find in a store. I also sampled the pudding cake, which was tasty, though not quite my cup of tea (my dad would LOVE it).

If you're looking for that warm, comforting feeling of grandma's baking, Lulu's is the place to be! The pound cake alone is worth a trip, but honestly, the whole experience was wonderful. I'll definitely be back!

So, my next cupcake adventure took me to Cakeology in Montgomery, Alabama – it's this super cute little place near Bell Road and a Dollar General (seriously, look for the Dollar General!). I tried to email them ahead, but no response – no biggie! It's tiny, like, just a table and a few chairs, not really a family sit-down kind of place.

But the cupcakes! Oh my goodness, the cupcakes! I grabbed four different flavors (I'm SO kicking myself for not writing down the names!), and let me tell you, they were amazing. Red velvet was a close second, and I even enjoyed a couple of chocolate ones – not usually my go-to, but these were surprisingly good! One chocolate cupcake was a bit too much chocolate for me, but the other one... the caramel one? Hands down, one of the BEST cupcakes I've EVER had! Seriously, you HAVE to try it! They were only $2.75 each, which is a steal! Perfect for a little treat for the kids or a special occasion.

Over to T-Toni's Bakery at the Eastchase Farmers Market. The owner was so sweet! She was super busy, so I didn't get to sample any mini cupcakes, but I snapped a pic and grabbed some red velvet with pecans (my absolute fave!). Four cupcakes cost $15.

My family devoured them when I got home! They especially loved that the pecans were on the side – my kids aren't huge pecan fans like me. The presentation was seriously gorgeous, like something out of a magazine! The frosting was incredibly smooth and delicious. Definitely want to go back and try other flavors!
