Review: Paco’s Tacos Mexican Grill in Montgomery”

With a 4.4-star rating and plenty of buzz, Paco Taco in Montgomery seemed like a promising spot for a casual meal. The restaurant itself makes a good first impression: it’s clean, features unique decor, and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Guests should be aware of a posted sign stating that service will be denied to anyone smelling of marijuana or not wearing a shirt or shoes—something to keep in mind before visiting.

Upon arrival, the hostess directed us to the bar to place our to-go order. I opted for the chicken nachos with jalapeños and sour cream on the side, along with street tacos served with rice and a dipping sauce. My daughter chose the Paco Combo, which included a taco, enchilada, rice, and beans. The wait time was reasonable—about 10 to 20 minutes—and while drinks weren’t included, complimentary chips and salsa were provided.

The total came to nearly $43, plus a $5 tip. At that price point, I expected a higher quality meal.

Visually, the nachos looked appealing, and I appreciated the choice to have toppings on the side. However, the chicken was dry and difficult to chew, ultimately making the dish unenjoyable. The street tacos were fine in presentation, but the dipping sauce lacked flavor despite being heavy on herbs. The meat wasn’t juicy, and the rice was average at best.

My daughter was initially excited about her combo meal, but it didn’t meet expectations. The presentation of her food was unappealing, and unfortunately, the taste didn’t make up for it. The beef taco meat was dried out, and the enchilada lacked flavor and texture.

Most of the food ended up being thrown away, which speaks volumes about the quality and overall experience.

In summary, while Paco Taco offers a pleasant atmosphere and decent service, the food fell short. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant, nor would I return.
