I’ve passed by Sweet Creek Farm Market on Troy Highway more times than I can count. Years ago, I even stopped in to check out their fruits and other goods. Back then, I was disappointed to find most of the fruit was either rotten or overpriced, so I left empty-handed. Recently, I heard the market had changed ownership, and after seeing all the buzz on social media—especially TikTok—I decided to give their restaurant a try. They were running a special on pulled pork sandwiches, and that was enough to get me in the door.
The market is easy to miss if you're not paying attention. They have animals on-site, which adds a nice touch, though I only caught a glimpse of the chickens as I drove in and out. Inside, the market offers a wide variety of items, so whether you shop before or after you eat, you’ll find something to explore.
Being an early bird, I was one of the first customers when they opened. Right off the bat, I noticed how affordable their menu is. The place has a cozy, country feel that reminds me of the restaurants back in my hometown. It’s the kind of spot that feels welcoming to families and older folks alike. Their health score was a solid 99, which is a big deal for me. The young lady who took my order was patient and kind, and honestly, great customer service is what makes or breaks a restaurant experience.
Now, let’s talk about the food.
I ordered the large pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, a cup of camp stew, a kid's cheeseburger with mac and cheese, and a chocolate chip cookie.
The pulled pork sandwich was excellent. It was huge, the meat was tender, and the bread was fresh. What really took it over the top for me was the cole slaw—it added the perfect crunch and tang that balanced the richness of the pork. I absolutely loved it. Honestly, it turned the sandwich into one of my all-time favorites. The baked beans were surprisingly good too—almost rivaling Jim ‘N Nick’s, which I never thought I’d say. For $6.99, this meal was an A+ in both taste and value. I’d definitely order it again.
The camp stew was hearty, with tender meat in every bite. It wasn’t watery, and the ingredients were well-balanced. However, it had a bit too much vinegar or something similar that threw off the flavor for me. I appreciated the generous portion of crackers they included, unlike many places that skimp. While it wasn’t bad, it’s not something I’d order again.
The kids cheeseburger and mac and cheese were a definite miss. The burger had no seasoning, no toppings, and no condiments. It was small—probably best suited for a child under five—and didn’t come with fries. The mac and cheese was overly cheesy but completely lacking in flavor. My daughter, who loves mac and cheese, said it was the worst she’s ever had. We won’t be ordering that again.
So, would I recommend Sweet Creek Farm Market’s restaurant? Yes and no. The prices are fantastic, and some of the food—like the pulled pork sandwich—is worth trying. But overall, I’d give the meal I had a C. The service was quick, with everything ready in under 12 minutes, and the menu offers a wide range of options including ice cream, peach cobbler, and milkshakes. I regret not trying the cobbler—I love peach cobbler. The total for everything I ordered came out to $22.29, which I think is a great deal considering the amount of food I received. Between the pulled pork sandwich, camp stew, kids meal, and cookie, it felt like a fair price—especially with how expensive eating out has become.
The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive, but I wasn’t acknowledged in the market area, so I can’t speak to the customer service there. I didn’t buy anything, just looked around and snapped a few photos. The place was spotless, and I’d give them an A+ for cleanliness in both the restaurant and market.
As always, I remind my readers that my experience may not be yours. What I liked—or didn’t—might not match your tastes. The best way to know is to go try it for yourself.
Curiosity got the best of me, so I took a double take and finally tried Sweet Creek’s peach cobbler. It’s usually served with ice cream, but I opted to have it without.
Presentation-wise, it looked promising—warm, filled to the top, and visually inviting. I do wish it came with a lid or cover, though. That small detail matters, especially when you’re taking it to go.
Unfortunately, the taste didn’t live up to the look. The cobbler was overly wet and seemed undercooked, which threw off the texture and flavor. I really wanted to like it, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me.
So, as much as I appreciate the effort, this one’s a no for me.
