I’m not going to lie when I found out Winn‑Dixie was closing, I felt some type of way. I worked there years ago, and I shopped there often. I always loved their meats and, of course, the BOGO deals. So, walking into the new Piggly Wiggly, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I will give them major props: the store was very clean and well organized. I was especially impressed with the produce section the fruit and vegetable displays were spotless and neatly arranged. Even the pricing surprised me in a good way.
There were so many new items and options that I honestly wasn’t expecting. This Piggly Wiggly was nothing like the one in my small hometown. It felt updated, stocked, and thoughtfully laid out.
There’s no self‑checkout, but during my visit they had three registers open, which is more than I usually saw at Winn‑Dixie, where it was often one register plus self‑checkout. The cashier who helped me was friendly, and I even saw a few familiar faces along with a couple of “Jesus take the wheel” moments, but that’s every grocery store.
One thing to note: they do add a surcharge to the total bill, so keep that in mind.
I don’t shop there as often as I did when it was Winn‑Dixie, but I will tell everyone this go check them out. You might be pleasantly surprised by the prices, the cleanliness, and the overall experience.
