While visiting Destin, Florida, I decided to try Roberto’s Pizzeria Sport's Bar, located in the Wharf. I honestly felt robbed without a gun, maybe just a little. Now, I’m not saying I 100% regret trying them, because I don’t. Our server who took our to‑go order, Ms. Tashauana, was truly the highlight. I enjoyed her professionalism, her bubbly attitude, and her humor.
There was not much marinara sauce, and with so many toppings, it could have stood to have a lot more to keep it from being dry, in my opinion. The crust, however, was amazing, not too thick. I’m not a fan of really thick pizza crust, and the texture on this one was great.
With so many pizzas I’ve tried, it’s usually one of the following: not enough sauce, horrible crust texture, hardly any toppings, lukewarm temperature, or just plain nasty. Thankfully, only one of those was an issue here (no sauce). Still, I didn’t see the hype or the logic behind paying so much for a pizza that honestly reminds me of Sam’s Club pizza, which is under $10 in Alabama, including tax. I love Sam's Club's pizza.
We also purchased their 10‑piece wings for a whopping $18. Yep, that’s with no fries. At least there were no feathers like some wings I’ve tried lately from other restaurants. It’s hard to find a restaurant or food truck that gives me good wet wings. My idea of a good wing is not little, but definitely not fatty and chewy, a small crispy texture on the outside, moist on the inside, and soaked in sauce to the point that my hands get messy. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that from these. They were not the best.
Although Roberto’s Pizzeria Sports Bar has a high rating, and I won’t knock them for that, they give a lot, but not $55.13 worth. I paid for the experience. Would I return? Unfortunately, no.
The real question is: Would you pay over $30 for this pizza? Despite my review, let everyone be persuaded by their own mind.
