I recently had the opportunity to try The Goat Bar & Grill in Pike Road. I arrived around 10:30 a.m. because online hours listed a 10:00 opening, which turned out not to be accurate. It wasn’t a big deal, though, I took a quick walk over to Publix across the street and came back a few minutes after they opened.
When I walked in, a few people were already seated at the bar, and I was greeted by a sweet young woman named Summer, who took my order. As I waited about 15 to 20 minutes, Lenard came over and asked if I wanted something to drink. I accepted and asked for water. Small gestures like that matter, and it’s the kind of customer service that makes me want to return. Good service goes a long way.
I ordered the fish and chips ($19) and the buffalo chicken flatbread ($12). My total, including tax, was $33.72.
The fish and chips were the highlight of my visit. The presentation was great, and the two large filets were golden brown, crispy, and fresh. While the fish itself didn’t have much seasoning, the batter made up for it. It was hot, crunchy, and delicious. The fries were the real surprise. Lately, fries have been hit‑or‑miss everywhere, either soggy, under‑seasoned, or just disappointing. The Goat got them right. They were crispy, seasoned, and honestly addictive. I didn't eat the coleslaw. Before I knew it, they were gone. This plate alone deserves a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
The buffalo chicken flatbread, unfortunately, missed the mark. The presentation wasn’t appealing, and the carry‑out box didn’t help. (Had to split it in two boxes,) When you’re selling items like flatbread, packaging matters. The chicken was dry, and there wasn’t enough buffalo sauce to balance it out. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t something I’d order again. I’d give it 2 out of 5 stars.
As for the atmosphere, I wouldn’t consider this a family‑outing type of place. It feels more like a social spot for adults, a bar setting with golf and a relaxed vibe. It’s a great location for ladies’ night, guys’ night, or bachelor and bachelorette gatherings.
Will I go again? Absolutely. I won’t order the flatbread again, but the fish and fries alone are worth a return visit, and the customer service made a great impression.
Overall, considering the service, food temperature, speed, and quality, I give The Goat Bar & Grill a 4.6 out of 5.
