Me: Lacey please tell my readers a little about yourself.

Lacey: Hello everyone my name is Lacey Acree, a true born and raised Alabama girl! Fashion  print/ runway model, Army Veteran and Alum of The University of Alabama(Roll Tide!),  I am married with three children. We currently reside in Birmingham AL.

Me: What's the story behind G.I. Beauty Cosmetics LLC?

Lacey: Well, G.I. Beauty Cosmetics came about through my love for makeup. I am a self proclaimed Makeup Enthusiast! I love everything about it’s my favorite  hobby. About 2 years ago had the idea to combine my love for makeup and my military background. Casually mentioned it to my husband and he was in full support. Honestly G.I. Beauty  Cosmetics LLC would not be in existence without him. He has really been pushing me and helping me the whole journey.

Me: What was your goal when you started your brand?

Lacey: My goal when I started G.I. Beauty Cosmetics was to provide quality cosmetics with an affordable price. People always inquire about my makeup looks and how did I learn to do it, my response is always YouTube! I watched hours of videos and just practiced. But no matter how much you learn from videos, good products are needed regardless of the price.  I also found I used the same colors generally and I had a specific way I applied my makeup. I wanted my brand to be easy enough for a novice to use and a staple for a professional or enthusiast such as myself. Which is why our 1st product is the Basic Training Eyeshadow Palette. I designed the palette to be an easy everyday makeup staple. The layout is intentional and the colors should work for most skin tones regardless of ethnicity.

Me:  What was one of your biggest challenges you faced when starting the brand?

Lacey: The biggest challenge I faced when starting my brand was finding a good manufacturer. I wanted a good quality product and it needed to be pigmented! Nobody wants to waste money on something that doesn’t work. I tested the products for a year before deciding I had the right manufacturer.

Me:  I know you worked in the modeling industry, do you think it played an impact in starting G.I. Beauty Cosmetics?

Lacey: I definitely think my modeling career played a significant part in the development of G.I. Cosmetics, but I have always worn makeup since I was a teenager. I watched my mother make herself up every day no matter what. I just have always been exposed to the beauty industry. Even when I was on active duty in the Army I found a way to wear my makeup that didn’t go against the rules.

Me: Is there any beauty or wellness advice that you want to share with my readers?

Lacey: Yes, Skincare! I can’t stress enough to take care of your skin. Find a regimen that works for you. Always wash your makeup off. I never go to bed with makeup on! And, when it comes to wearing makeup, don’t be afraid to try different things. You never know if you like it unless you try.

Me: What's the next Chapter for G.I. Beauty Cosmetics?

Lacey: What’s next for G.I. Cosmetics LLC...more products! The next release will be lipstick and lip gloss! We are building on the brand and doing our best to make sure the products we provide for our customers are the absolute best!
