My son and daughter have participated in a variety of sports, and I must admit that I have loved getting to know new people and watching my children form friendships along the way. While playing travel ball, school, and recreation, we witnessed both horrible and good things. Sports might be very expensive, but the relationships and experiences are worth it.

There are often criticisms thrown at parents who allow their children to play sports all year round. They believe that we are stealing their freedom and childhood. People fail to see the bigger picture, which is that it teaches them many valuable lessons in addition to being fun and making friends.

You will see the start of an enduring friendship. I love the way relationships are developed both on and off the field. Sports have the power to unite people and help you build relationships with people you never would have met otherwise.

We really enjoyed meeting new people, even with the ludicrous travel and summer ball costs. At four years old, my son began to play soccer. Along the journey, he gained a lot of friends, many of whom he continues to communicate with even when their teams are rivals.

Playing sports enables kids to develop abilities to listen, trust, support, and most importantly, understand others. I adore how athletics can span economic and social as well as cultural boundaries. It improves their social skills.

Young people need to understand what it means to be loyal, diligent, a leader, and an encourager in this world.

Sports, whether they are football, basketball, soccer, softball, or another sport entirely, have a special ability to unite people. It's amazing when children from different backgrounds come together to form an enduring friendship and positive relationship.
