I recently tried the new taco shop in Pike Road off the Waugh exit called Locos Taqueria. And honestly who doesn’t love good tacos? Before I get into the food, let me start with the drive. You definitely need to be familiar with the area because there’s road construction going on, and the parking lot has quite a few potholes. Just take your time and be careful pulling in.
I arrived around lunchtime. They weren’t crowded, but there was a steady flow of customers. Out of respect for people eating, I didn’t take photos of the bar or seating area. I had already checked their menu online, and unfortunately the sampler plate I originally wanted wasn’t available that day. So instead, I ordered three different tacos and their pulled pork combo, which happened to be the special.
I chose the El Pastor Taco, the Sweet Carolin‑a Taco, and the Hey Seoul Sister Taco. They served all three on one plate, which was fine, but the juices from each taco soaked into the tortillas and made them a bit soggy. If that bothers, you especially if you’re ordering to go ask them to separate your tacos. Each one was priced at $3.50.
The Sweet Carolin‑a Taco came with pulled pork and BBQ sauce with coleslaw. This one was my least favorite. My favorite was the Hey Seoul Sister Taco, which had pulled pork, spicy Korean BBQ sauce, and Asian slaw. The combination of the slaw, meat, and sauce was delicious. I should’ve asked for salsa to go with it. The El Pastor Taco marinated pork with onions and cilantro was my second favorite and had great flavor.
The pulled pork sandwich and fries were also good. The sandwich was packed with meat and came with BBQ sauce on the side, which I appreciated because it kept the bread from getting soggy. The fries were tasty, though not as crunchy as I prefer, but I still enjoyed them. My drink had more ice than actual drink, so I was glad I had something at home afterward.
Customer service was solid. I believe I ordered from the owner, and he was very helpful in explaining their top sellers. They offer a wide variety of tacos, so if you enjoy trying different flavors, this is a great spot to explore.
I spent a total of almost $24.00 on my order, which felt reasonable for trying several different items.
