Our neighborhood, Deer Creek allows Southern Smokeshack and certain other food trucks to set up in the community. My family and I decided to try them out. They were set up at the clubhouse’s parking lot. I had to speak up pretty loudly to order because of the noise from the generator.  The gentleman that took our order was nice.

I love myself some pulled pork, so I chose the pulled pork plate with two sides (fries and okra).  The sides were both freshly cooked. My daughter chose the cheeseburger with mac and cheese on the side. My husband had the Philly cheesesteak burger (requested to cut down some of the onions and bell peppers) with fries on the side.  The wait time was maybe five minutes. While waiting we decided to add on a serving of banana pudding that was advertised on their social media page.

I thought all plates were presented neatly.  Let me say that my husband’s BBQ is best to none. I would put money on it. There has not been anyone or restaurant to top his BBQ food yet. I am not being biased; the guy can cook. Before trying the food, I went in with an open mind. So, let's get started.

I was able to get a sample of everyone's plate.  I will start with my pulled pork plate. I was disappointed that I didn't have a hamburger bun to make a sandwich.  It wasn’t seasoned enough for my liking. I wasn't too happy that it had a lot of grease in the bottom of the plate.  It was okay. The fries and okra were freshly cooked. The okras were a little too hard for the way I like them.

My daughter’s burger was on a pretzel bun, which was super fresh. The burger was juicy, but I prefer my meat well done. It was a tad bit too pink for me.  I am not a macaroni lover, but my daughter is.  She said they were some of the bests she has ever eaten.

My husband’s Philly cheese steak burger was also on a pretzel bun. I would have loved just a little extra cheese. I wished it also came on the hoagie bread like it was advertised. The onions and bell pepper were not really cooked, but the amount that I requested was just right.

Let's get to the sweet part!  When I finished sampling the plates, I tried the banana pudding. I was expecting a bigger serving, little more presentable from the viewing on the Facebook Ad plus the price.  The pudding was good, I just didn't see hardly any cookies inside it    .  It was a 3.8/5.0 stars.

I wish drinks came with the meals. Whenever any restaurant gives me fresh food and good customer service, I don’t have many complaints.

I know..I know.. My readers want to know, would I try them again and would I recommend them…

I doubt I will try it again.  Would I recommend it to others? I say try it, because your taste buds may be totally different from mine, besides it wasn’t horrible.

What place will be next??!! Will it be your restaurant, your favorite food truck, or the new treat place in town? We will see..!
