Don't Judge Her By Her Clothes

Image
Written By: Felecia Causey Photography By: Felecia Causey I recently saw a video on the internet of a young woman being violated on a live video.  I was very hesitant in watching it, but as it continued to flood my timeline, I did. As I watched it, many emotions came to me. I think reading some of the comments made me very upset. Just as I had my opinion, I knew others had theirs. The main focus was that she had provocative clothes, and not that she was sexually assaulted. Growing up, most women are taught that they would be judged based on what they wear.  Although many women in the industry make money dressing sexy , they are harshly judged. Women that decides to wear more revealing clothes, are actually educated, great mothers, college students, business owners or maybe even doctors.  Does her clothes determine that she is not the phenomenal woman that she is? Does what she wear says that a man can do what he want? If a woman is intoxicated, and she says no

The Life of A Single Mom

Image
Written By: Felecia Causey Photography By: Felecia Causey Models: Single mothers are some of the most unselfish people I know. They are willing to make sacrifices for the well being of their children. Society have labeled these women as the reason the world have so many problems. I actually know some amazing and successful people that were raised in a one parent household.   I'm sure there isn't any woman that planned to be a single parent. As adults we are aware that many happily ever after, sometimes doesn't happen. She have to dust the negativity off, and take on her responsibility. As most mothers, who carry the loads of being a nurse, chef, teacher, and therapist alone, it's a whole lot of mommy battling. Single mothers don't always receive the luxury life as she wants because she's willing to put her kids before her own.  She's not always able to have a social life. As people on the outside speculate why they are a single mom, bu

Not Having My Dad Growing Up Taught Me To Push Hard For My Kids

Image
Photography By:Felecia Causey B efore my kids were even thought of I knew I was going to be a better father than my dad! Growing up, there were times where I longed for guidance, understanding, and most of all the love from my dad. There were times I would ask my mom questions that she couldn't really answer..."Why is he not here? Is it me? What did I do so wrong for him not to want to be in my life?" After so long, I forgot that my dad even existed, and to be quite honest, at the age of 10 maybe 12, I just stop caring. I still to this day applaud my mom for raising me the best she knew how. Of course, there was help from my granddad. He taught me how to work. He taught me the value of a dollar. He loved me unconditionally-and for that I'm forever grateful. But with all he did, there was still something missing! Today, at the age of 31, the things I know now are basically through trial and error and the wisdom of God. A little over 2 1/2 years ago, my wife pushed m

What I Need For A Maternity Session

Image
Written By: Felecia Causey Photography By: Felecia Causey   "What should I wear", is the question I am mostly asked.  When selecting what to wear, can be a hard decision for any photo session, and adding a belly with raging hormones, can make it feel maybe a little more harder. You will one day look back on your pictures, so when you choose your wardrobe, hair, and makeup, make sure it is flattering and it captures your vision.  Maternity designers and boutiques owners have really fueled the styles and have given soon to be moms empowerment to want to show off their bellies. If you plan to purchase something to wear for your maternity session, remember your bump is the center of attention for your photos. You may choose to show your belly, I would recommend bandeau bras, bikini tops, or fabric that you may use to cover your cleavage, as for covering your bottom with maybe a tutu, blue jeans, full skirt or fabric, transformed into a skirt.

My Family's Love Helped Me Fight This Monster Called Cancer

Image
Photography By: Felecia Causey Two Halloweens ago, I received the most life changing news of my life.  "You have cancer". My world felt as if it was falling apart, but my support system didn't let it. My husband, family, and friends did their part and helped me fight it . In November, I started chemotherapy, I lost all of my hair. I lost over 20 pounds, my skin darkened, and my nails even changed . My body was changing before I even had a chance to really even grasped that “I HAD CANCER.” My kids were noticing the changes as well; wondering why  I  barely got out of bed, and why did I have so many doctors appointments. My husband and I decided it was time to tell them what was going on. I think it hit my oldest worst, and she had so many questions. My other kids cried because all there small minds could grasp was mommies dying. But we assured them everything was going to  get better. All the time not really knowing and praying that it would be i

I Beat Cancer, I Am Glad To Be Able to Share My Story

Image
Photography By: Felecia Causey I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 40. I started getting mammograms at the age of 37, due to my family history. In 2008,my journey started with a lot of things happening. January 7th, my mom, after her funeral I was admitted into the hospital for surgery (I wasn't diagnosed yet). The first 3 months of 2008 was tough. March 5th was my mother's birthday, and the same day I lost an uncle. On that day my husband was admitted into the hospital for two weeks. I spent my birthday at the hospital with him who was in intensive care, and had to have an emergency procedure that saved his life. I was so busy  being there for my husband, I didn't schedule a mammogram that year. July of 2009, I got the opportunity to go see my family doctor and the only thing I could hear in my head was I need a mammogram. My doctor scheduled me an appointment and that's when my cancer journey started. I went to my appointment in

I Was A Domestic Violence Victim, But Now I'm A Survivor

Image
Photography By: Felecia Causey My name is Roshada and I was a victim of domestic violence, but now I say I am a survivor.  It began about 5 years ago, when I was in a very vulnerable state of mind.  I was lonely and looking for someone or something to just love me.  My beautiful nightmare began, when I met this man on social media. It first started as casual conversations, but one Sunday I decided to allow him to come to my house.  I was in the yard washing my truck when he called my phone, and told me he wondered if I was as pretty on any other day as I looked while I was sweating.  I wasn't that fascinated by the comment, but I agreed to let him take me on a date.  He pulled up to my house 10 minutes later. I wasn't aware that he only lived five minutes away.  When I saw him all I could see was this nicely built, soft spoken handsome man standing in front of me, and ignoring the fact he had a  monitor on his leg. After our encounter,  it was long late nights
